Yoliang Releases August YP30 Used Vehicle Wholesale Price Index as Price Declines Narrow Significantly
September 2026
The Yoliang Company has released the August edition of the Yoliang 30 Used Vehicle Wholesale Price Index (YP30). The index stood at 65 points, down one point from 66 points in July.
The latest result represents the smallest monthly decline recorded by the index so far this year, indicating that the pace of price adjustment has narrowed significantly. At the same time, substantial differences have emerged in the residual-value performance of different used vehicle segments.
Sedans Remain the Only Major Vehicle Category With Year-on-Year Growth
By vehicle type, August data showed continued divergence across the three major categories.
Sedan prices increased 3.5% year-on-year, making sedans the only major vehicle category to maintain positive annual growth.
SUV prices declined 17.5% year-on-year, while MPV prices fell 11.4%, indicating considerably greater pricing pressure in both segments.
Across the overall market, used vehicle prices declined 6.9% year-on-year.
The data indicates that the used vehicle market is increasingly characterized by differentiated performance across vehicle categories, with sedans demonstrating stronger price resilience than SUVs and MPVs.
Mini Vehicles Continue to Outperform Larger Vehicle Segments
By vehicle class, mini vehicles continued to demonstrate strong performance, with prices increasing 11.5% year-on-year.
The result highlights the relatively strong circulation and turnover performance of small, practical vehicles positioned around daily commuting and cost-conscious mobility needs.
By comparison, small vehicles declined 7.0%, while compact vehicles declined 4.7%.
Medium-sized and upper-medium-sized vehicles experienced significantly greater corrections, with prices declining 20.1% and 20.5%, respectively.
The sharper decline among larger vehicle segments suggests increasing inventory-turnover pressure, making vehicle acquisition and inventory management more important considerations for used vehicle dealers.
American Brands Post Positive Growth Amid Increasing Brand-Level Divergence
By brand origin, American brands were the only major category to record positive year-on-year price growth in August, increasing 4.54%.
Chinese domestic brands declined 2.1%, while German brands declined 5.0%.
Japanese, Korean, and French brands experienced more pronounced declines, falling 12.0%, 10.3%, and 15.5%, respectively.
The data points to increasingly differentiated performance among major international and domestic automotive brands in China’s used vehicle wholesale market.
Shandong Remains China’s Leading Used Vehicle Inflow Destination
Cross-provincial circulation data from the YP30 shows that the top five used vehicle inflow destinations nationwide over the past two months were Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Hebei, and Guangdong.
Shandong continued to rank first in cross-provincial used vehicle inflows, reinforcing its position as one of China’s major used vehicle circulation hubs.
Regional purchasing preferences also showed notable changes.
In Northeast China, the Volkswagen Sagitar moved to the top of the regional ranking.
In Shandong, the Volkswagen Lavida retained its position as the most in-demand model.
In South China, the Toyota Camry remained the leading model, while the Toyota RAV4 and Honda Civic newly entered the regional ranking.
The Southwest market experienced particularly significant changes, with Audi A4, Wuling Hongguang, Volkswagen Magotan, Volkswagen Tiguan, and BMW 3 Series all entering the regional top-ranking list.
The changes indicate a meaningful shift in regional vehicle purchasing preferences and inventory demand.
Real Wholesale Transactions Provide Market Pricing References
The August report also disclosed a selection of actual wholesale transaction samples from the Yoliang platform, providing reference points for professional used vehicle buyers and dealers.

Used Vehicle Exports Provide an Important Growth Channel
While the domestic used vehicle market remains under pricing pressure, used vehicle exports are emerging as an important incremental growth channel for China’s automotive circulation industry.
During July and August, China’s used vehicle exports continued to demonstrate strong growth. As regulatory requirements surrounding so-called “zero-mileage used vehicles” have been strengthened, the export structure has continued to improve.
Genuine previously used vehicles aged approximately three to eight years have increasingly become a major component of China’s used vehicle exports.
Economical gasoline-powered vehicles, selected hybrid models, and new energy used vehicles have continued to receive orders from overseas markets. Trade activity has remained active across Central Asia, Russia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Against this backdrop, Yoliang Global, Yoliang’s international digital platform, continues to provide international buyers in multiple countries with a digital gateway to China’s used vehicle inventory.
The platform synchronizes domestic auction inventory and provides overseas buyers with comprehensive vehicle-condition files, actual vehicle images, and documentation information.
By enabling remote vehicle verification, Yoliang Global helps reduce information barriers between Chinese vehicle suppliers and overseas buyers, allowing Chinese exporters and other industry participants to respond more efficiently to international inquiries and supporting the digital development of cross-border used vehicle circulation.
China’s Used Vehicles Gain International Price Competitiveness
Comparisons between actual transaction prices on Yoliang Auctions and used vehicle pricing in markets such as Japan and South Korea indicate that the international competitiveness of Chinese used vehicle inventory continues to strengthen.
The combination of competitive pricing and increasingly transparent vehicle-condition information is gaining greater acceptance among used vehicle professionals in Central Asia, North Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
As China’s used vehicle export industry continues to develop, these advantages are creating new opportunities for Chinese vehicle suppliers to participate more effectively in international used vehicle markets.

The company’s Vehicle Acquisition Assistant further helps dealers identify vehicle inventory that matches their purchasing requirements, while the YP30 provides a reference based on actual wholesale transaction trends.
By combining digital vehicle sourcing with market data and standardized vehicle-condition information, Yoliang aims to help used vehicle dealers improve purchasing efficiency, reduce acquisition risks, optimize inventory decisions, and accelerate vehicle circulation.
As China’s used vehicle market continues to undergo structural adjustment, data-driven pricing, transparent vehicle-condition information, and digital transaction infrastructure are becoming increasingly important foundations for a more efficient used vehicle circulation ecosystem.
